A good install starts under the turf

Galveston Bay yards are flat, the soil is heavy, and a summer storm can drop inches in an hour. Turf laid straight on dirt puddles and sags. Ours goes down on a base built for that.

Flat lots that hold water
We slope the ground away from the house before anything goes down, so rain has somewhere to go.
Clay soil that turns to mud
Soil comes out and 4 to 6 inches of compacted road base goes in. Turf never sits on clay.
Summer heat that kills grass
Turf does not need water to stay green, and we help you pick a product for the sun your yard gets.
Drainage, by the numbers

Grass vs. turf

Spend summer in the yard, not on it

What a Gulf Coast lawn asks of you, and what turf asks instead.

Natural grass

Mowing every week from spring to fall
Watering through every dry spell
Mud and standing water after a storm
Brown, bare patches by August
Fertilizer, weed killer and reseeding

Artificial turf

Never needs mowing
No watering to keep it green
Drains through to a compacted base
Green every month of the year
A rinse and a brush is the upkeep
How we install

Five steps, no shortcuts

Most turf problems are base problems. This is the part you never see, and the part we don't skip.

Step 1

Measure

We measure the area and plan the layout, seams and drainage before we quote.

Step 2

Dig out and slope

The old grass and 3 to 5 inches of soil come out, and the ground is sloped so water runs away.

Step 3

Build the base

The subgrade is compacted, then 4 to 6 inches of road base is laid, watered and compacted again.

Step 4

Lay, seam and secure

Turf is laid with the blades running one way, seams are joined, and the edges are pinned down.

Step 5

Infill and finish

Infill is spread and power-brushed in so the blades stand up, then the yard is cleaned and rinsed.

Common Questions

Turf on the Gulf Coast

Will artificial turf flood after a heavy Gulf storm?

Turf drains through its backing into the base below, so how well a yard drains comes down to the install. We dig out the soil, slope the ground away from the house, and lay a compacted gravel base that lets water move through. The turf itself is rated to drain anywhere from about 44 to over 1,000 inches of water per hour depending on the product, which is far more than a storm drops.

Does artificial turf get hot in the summer?

Yes. Any turf gets warmer than natural grass in direct Texas sun, and it is honest to plan for that. Lighter-colored and textured blades help, a quick rinse cools it down, and shade from trees or a patio cover makes a real difference. We'll talk through where the sun hits your yard before you pick a product.

Is artificial turf good for dogs?

It is one of the most common reasons people switch. There's no mud to track in and no dead patches. Pet installs use turf built for drainage and a base that lets urine wash through, and a regular rinse keeps it fresh. We'll recommend a pet-rated product for dog runs and backyards.

Quotes & Installation

How much does artificial turf installation cost?

It depends on the size of the area, how much soil has to come out, access to the yard, and which turf you choose. Every yard is different, so we measure first and give you a quote for your yard rather than a guess per square foot.

What does the installation involve?

We remove the existing grass and 3 to 5 inches of soil, slope the ground for drainage, compact it, and lay 4 to 6 inches of compacted road base. Then the turf goes down, the seams are joined, the edges are secured, and infill is brushed in so the blades stand up.

Do you sell turf for DIY installs?

No. We install only. Every job is measured, prepped and installed by us.

What warranty comes with the turf?

The turf we install carries a 16-year manufacturer's warranty. Ask us for the details on the product you choose.
