Pet Turf & Dog Run Installation

No more muddy paws or dead patches. Pet areas built to drain, rinse clean and stand up to dogs running laps along the fence.

Built around your dogs

Dogs are hard on grass: worn paths along the fence, yellow spots, holes, and mud after every rain. Turf solves the wear and the mud, but only if the area is built for pets from the ground up.

The difference between pet turf that works and pet turf that smells is mostly underneath it: how liquid drains through the base, and how easy the surface is to rinse.

What a pet area needs underneath

Drainage through the base

Liquid has to pass through the turf and the base, not sit on top. The base is built to drain, not just to be flat.

Easy to rinse

Pet areas need a regular rinse with the hose. We plan the slope so rinse water runs away from the house and patio.

Secure edges

Edges fixed down along fences and beds, where dogs dig and run, so they can't lift the turf.

Shade and heat

Turf gets hot in full sun. We look at where the shade falls so dogs have somewhere cooler to lie.

Choosing turf for pets

Pet areas do better with a shorter, denser turf that rinses clean and springs back from heavy traffic. The infill matters too: tell us how many dogs you have and how big they are, and we'll talk through the choices.

Pile height
About 1.25 to 2 in Shorter piles rinse cleaner and hide less.
Drainage
Roughly 54 to 81 in/hr Typical of the pet and play turf we work with. Some lawn turf drains far faster.
Infill
Chosen for pets Some infills suit pet areas better than others. We'll explain the trade-offs.

Common Questions

Common Questions

Will pet turf smell?

Turf can hold odor if liquid can't drain through it or it never gets rinsed. A pet area built to drain, rinsed regularly with a hose, and cleaned of solid waste stays fresh. Small dog runs used by several dogs need rinsing more often.

Can dogs dig through artificial turf?

Determined diggers can damage edges and seams. We fix the edges down along fences and beds, where most digging happens. Tell us if your dog is a digger so we can plan for it.

How do I clean pet turf?

Pick up solid waste as you would on grass, then rinse the area with a hose. How often depends on how many dogs use it; a busy dog run may need a rinse every few days in summer.

Is artificial turf too hot for dogs?

In full Texas sun, turf gets hotter than grass. Shade, a quick hose-down on hot afternoons, and keeping water nearby all help. We'd rather plan the area around shade than promise you a turf that stays cool.
